Updates

A few quick updates:

Finished the Canticle for solo cello; it was performed by Chris Erickson (who has now premiered five of my pieces!) at the composition recital, along with Three by Silverstein, a fun setting of three short poems by Shel Silverstein, sung by soprano Delaura Talbert.  The two pieces are on completely opposite sides of the new music spectrum, but they both came off well.

Also, just today finished Trope for solo flute, which along with Canticle and ‘Aria’ from the second string quartet, will be performed (and recorded) this summer at the highSCORE Festival. The word ‘trope’ is defined both as a recurring theme in a literary work and a small ‘tag’ a composer would add to a chant in the medieval era. I think the title is appropriate for this work.

A few new commissions are in the works. I’ll post on those before long!
